Joan Gallaway has enjoyed the beauty of this valley since the 1980’s and became a full-time resident in 2012. Her career was in computing but in 2003, she returned to university and obtained a Master’s in geomorphology, something more in touch with the outdoor world. Since living in the valley, Joan has been involved in many volunteer activities, the newest being assistance in establishing and monitoring nest box trails for cavity nesting birds such as Mountain Bluebirds and Tree Swallows.

Lori Jo Jamieson recently became Managing Editor of North American Bluebird Society’s (NABS) Bluebird Journal. She found out about the “Wings over the Rockies” festival when Claude Rioux contacted her about promoting it in Bluebird and was set on attending after viewing a festival video. Lori Jo began “blue birding” in 2015 and has installed, maintained and currently monitors bluebird trails throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania.  She has been Editor of New Jersey Bluebird Society’s Jersey Blues newsletter since 2016. Lori Jo finds joy in the small things in nature, and credits iNaturalist for encouragement.  She is passionate about rescuing beautiful trees from invasive vines and is studying to become a Master Ecologist at Duke Farms. Lori Jo also volunteers with the New York/New Jersey Trail Conference, doing invasive plant surveys, maintaining a Delaware Water Gap trail and working with the West Jersey Trail Crew.  She lives in a comfortable old farmhouse in Warren County, NJ with her husband, Peter, and their English Setter, Lulu. They enjoy hiking, kayaking, and vegetable gardening.
