Cajsa Fredin has been an artist for as long as she can remember. After earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture, her passion for metalwork led her back to the Kootenays, where she founded Matsdotter Metals, her own creative studio. Inspired by nature and influenced by both folk and pop art, Cajsa’s work merges vibrant colors and expressive shapes with the raw strength of welded steel. She loves experimenting with metal’s natural patinas—embracing the beauty of oxidation because, as she says, “there’s nothing better than a good rust!”
