Presenters for Wings over the Rockies

Kate MacKenzie

Kate is the Stewardship Coordinator for the Nature Conservancy of Canada’s Rocky Mountain Region. She has been with NCC for three years, with much of her work focusing on conservation land management, species-at-risk surveys and habitat restoration. As a junior birder, last year she and her team – the NCC-birds – participated in the annual 24-hour “bird-athon” on Pelee Island in Ontario, placing 5th with 95 species observed.

Her desire to help conserve Canada’s wild spaces has taken her all over the country – from Saskatchewan to Victoria where she completed her B.Sc. in Biology/Earth Sciences, and then to Ontario to finish a post-graduate diploma in Ecosystem Restoration at Niagara College Canada. All of this moving around has broadened her appreciation of the value of all Canada’s landscapes, and she’s now thrilled to call Invermere home
